GAME ANALYSIS BY NIRANJAN.C.NAVALGUND

HI CHESS FRIENDS
THIS IS A GAME BETWEEN TWO VERY SHARP MASTERS..
ONE OF THEM IS GM AND ANOTHER IS An IM
A VERY NICE ATACKING GAME
YOU MAY FIND A VERY NICE ZUGZWANG IN THE GAME!
ANALYSIS BY NIRANJAN.C.NAVALGUND

W:BAUER CHRISTIAN GM 2525 FRANCE
B:LEPELLETIER IM 2480 FRANCE
OPENING:C64:RUY LOPEZ CLASSICAL DEFENCE
TOURNAMENT:FRA-ch PLACE:NORBONNE
1.e4-e5
2.Nf3-Nc6
3.Bb5-Bc5 a6 is the best option. its a main line
4.0-0 safest line. another alternative is c3 with the idea of d4
4...Nd4
5.Nd4-Bd4 ed4 is also possible.
6.c3-Bb6
7.d4-c6
8.Ba4-d6
9.Na3-Ne7?! a dubious move
There were many other best options
a:NF6 double edge game
b:ed4 safe play
c:Bc7 interesting line according to theory....
10.de5-de5 10.Nc4 is a better option
11.Qh5!-Bc7 is a passive move. better was 11...Ng6
12.Rd1 white is better-Bd7
13.Bg5! a dangerous mighty pin!!- "A PIN IS MIGHTIER THAN THE SWORD."
13...0-0
14.Rd3! PREPARING FOR DOUBLE BATTERY IN THE d FILE AND IT IS THE BEGINGING OF THE END.!!
14....Qe8 as there was immediate threat of Rad1.
15.Bb3 keeping an eye on the shaky f7.
15...Ng6
16.Rad1 the last major piece comes into action
16...Be6
17.g3! wiser . not giving black any counterplay with Nf4
17...Bb3
18.ab3-Qe6
19.Rd7 occupying the seventh rank
19...Rac8
20.Nc4 last piece comes into the attack
20...h6?? suddenly the weakness is created in blacks territory
there were 2 alternatives which would prevent the immediate collapse.
a:b5 then after knight goes to e3 then f6 with the idea of Rf7 +=
b:f6 with the idea of Rf7 and b5 .
21.Bh6! intersting variation
21...gh6. If black plays 21...Rfd8 22.Rc7!!-Rd1+ 23.Qd1-Rc7 24.Qd8+ winning the rook+-
22.Ne3 idea:Nf5
22...Ne7 if Rfd8 no then the same Rc7!!
23.Ng4-Rfe8
24.Nh6+-Kh8
25.Nf5!-Qg6 forced. Any other move leads to an immediate disaster for eg:Nf5 then Qh8#
26.Kg2 waiting for black to make mistake. R7d6? because of 26...Bd6 27.Nd6-Rc7! 28.Rc7-Qd6=+ slight plus for black
26...Qf6 probably the only best reply
27.Qh7-Rcd8
28.R1d3! can u see that black is in some sort of problem. yes the zugzwang!!
black is in zugzwang
28...Bb8? mistake which allows immediate disaster.
even if he plays 28...Ne7 29.Re7-Re7 30.Rf3 crushing the opponent
29.Rd8!!! a final blow!!
(if 29....Rd8 30.Qg7+!!!-Qg7 31.Rd8#) 1-0

SUMMARY:
WHITE PLAYED VERY GOOD GAME.WE SHOULD OBSERVE THAT HE PLAYED VERY CAREFULLY DURING THE GAME SUCH AS g3,NF5, AND MANY OHTERS. WHITE EMPLOYED THE RUY LOPEZ CLASSICAL. BLACK MADE A MISTAKE ON THE MOVE 9. HE PLAYED 9...Ne7? instead of ne7 there were many other better moves which black did not consider. the best among then was 9...Nf6.
Then black made another mistake on move 20 ie 20...h6?. THE BETTER MOVES INSTEAD OF h6 IS GIVEN IN ANALYSIS
THEN BLACK MADE A LAST MISTAKE ON THE MOVE 28 28...Bb8. anyhow black is in zugwang and will lose, but Bb8 led to immediate disaster. THIS GAME WAS JUDGED AS THE BEST GAME OF THE TOURNAMENT
